Does Karma exist?

Do you believe in Karma? Some say that karma is a human idea created to keep the religious elite in control of the masses, just as the possibility of an eternity in hell keeps people from doing what is considered "bad".  Is it true? Or do the laws of karma really manifest? Does karma apply if someone does something bad for a good cause? A soldier who truly believes he or she is defending their country for instance, and how about killing in self-defense? Do we reap what we sow there?  What if we create our own karma, not by the things we do but by believing we have done wrong and seek to punish ourselves?  If there was no threat of karma or hell would people become barbaric?  Its my belief that we create our own karma to punish ourselves for doing what we feel is wrong.

how can you belief you did wrong? or you did wrong or you didnt, thats something you know. belief is not knowing. everybody/everything reaps what they sow thats a universal law. old sayings like live by the sword die by the sword make that clear enough. karma is just as hell a religious tool to keep people in fear. spirituality or what i think it should be called spiritduality doesnt need a religion its just your spirit's duality and it only needs you to work on it.
